We have a Tapestry completion time.

We are hoping to complete much of the stitching by June 2018.  At the moment we have 56 embroidered works and 20 pieces currently being stitched by embroiderers in Gaza, Lebanon, the Naqab, Jordan, and Ramallah. The Coordinators in these areas are pulling out all stops to get the work finished in time.  In preparation for the next phase, we have had printed, A Proposal for a Book, and are actively looking for possible publishers.

The cover of  ‘A Proposal for a Book’  shows an embroidered copy of the ‘Tree of Life’ mosaic, which can be seen in the archaeological site of Hishams Palace in Jericho, discovered in 1873.  This embroidery is part of the Tapestry’s Early Islamic Period 638-1099 CE, and was stitched by Basma in Ein el Helweh refugee camp Lebanon

Our aim, is in 2018, to have published an account with images, of the making of the History of Palestine Tapestry. This will mark the 70th anniversary of the Nakba, [the Catastrophe], when in 1948 thousands of Palestinians were forced to leave their  homes, villages, and towns in Palestine, and live in refugee camps.
